Hints On Chihuahua Coaching

A good obedience class to coach your Chihuahua is always useful. However, you do not have to go to obedience classes.  Many classes are especially for handling huge, out-of-control dogs and may emphasize force strategies to attempt to control and calm these dogs.  These techniques are not good for Chihuahuas or any dog in fact.  If you run into instructors and classes like this, you are better off training your Chihuahua on your own or with other small-dog owners.

Old school force-training techniques are ineffectual and no fun for your dog either.  Chihuahuas respond best to amendable training and only the gentlest of methodologies.

Some guidelines to keep in mind:

Guide, don’t force.  Chihuahuas want to please you.  Your job is to show them what pleases you.  If you force a Chihuahua you could bring out that scandalous Chi dour streak.

Punishment doesn’t work.  Chihuahuas seldom need anything apart from a mild correction.

Intensify the positive.  Reward your dog for behaviors that please you.

Satisfied endings:   Keep sessions short and fun, no longer than 10 to 15 minutes.  Start and finish each training session with something your dog can do well.

Chihuahuas are clever.  Just because your Chihuahua lives a life of leisure does not necessarily imply she won’t learn tricks.  Chihuahuas don’t hunt, herd or guard so they do not have an opportunity to show off like some of the other breeds.  Obedience and agility trials give Chihuahuas a chance to show what they can do.  But you do not have to compete in the competitions to enjoy training your Chihuahua.  Training should be a good time for the two of you.  Chihuahuas need to have a sort of schooling.

Clicker training works really well for Chihuahuas.  In clicker training you teach the dog that a “click” sound signals a coming reward.  A clicker signal is employed as it is fast, conspicuous, and something the dog otherwise doesn’t encounter in everyday life.  Once the dog associates the click with an upcoming reward, you wait for the dog to do the behavior you want her to do.  The instant she is doing hence you click to tell the dog her behavior deserves a reward.

Pug Training – Breed Specific Techniques For Quicker And Less Complicated Training

The Pug is a toy dog breed with a wrinkly face and a medium or tiny body.  It is often described as  ‘much in small’, because of all that it conceals in his little size.  The Pug has a humorless expression but is a very frolicsome, interesting and clever dog.  Though somewhat determined about specific things, they achieve success in dog obedience skills.  They’re sensitive to human voice, so you do not really have to hurt them.  They love human attention and feel concerned when ignored.  You would love to have one of these alert dogs, always at your feet or in your lap or following you wherever you go.

When your little dog first comes home, you should begin by getting him used to all of the family members.  Although he’s usually full of confidence, it might take him a little while to feel totally at ease in his new environment.

Begin the Pug training process methodically; teach one word with one action at a time; make sure you use the same word every time; and the association becomes strong in his head.  After you have taught him the 5 commands of sit, stay, down, come and heal correctly, move on to the following step, that is, to get him on the leash.  Commence with just an easy buckle collar on him, and continuously introduce the leash.  Confirm it is light in weight and soft on the skin.

Remember, Pug training starts with understanding one word at a time.  Teach him to sit, stay, and come one at a time.  If you give 2 3 commands at one time, he is going to be confused.  As you pronounce the word match it with a corresponding gesture to drive the message home.  For instance, when you want him to sit, say the word and put gentle strain on his back to show him what you need him to do.  You’ll need to train your little dog to remain in a crate when required.  When you start crate training, put your puppy into his crate and remain within his sight.  Give him a toy or treat to take his mind and to help him associate the crate with pleasant things.

It will take your Pug 1 or 2 days to feel comfy in his new surroundings.  Be alert and affectionate, careful not to overmaster him with too much too shortly.  Have some fun with your dog by engaging him in games with his toys.  And you will be so pleased with your clever companion!

Assemble A Poultry Pen – Planning Your Poultry Pen

Nowadays more people are returning back to the land to help support their families.  For many, one of their fondest memories is the old hen house in the back yard.  The concept of fresh eggs from your own hen house for breakfast is intriguing.  However before you can kick back and enjoy these glorious eggs you have to know how to build a chicken pen and house.

There are many ways to build a chicken pen and house and many various ideas with no 2 are the same.  Many factors must be taken into account before setting off to design your hen house.  Perhaps the most important factor to consider is how many chickens you intend to have.  This correlates directly to the size of both the hen house and the chicken run you will need to have.

You also have to decide what your principal goal in raising chickens is, are you planning on raising your chickens basically for their eggs or are you raising them as a source of meat for the table?  You need to take into account that they are going to need somewhere that they can roost and lay their eggs when you build a chicken pen.  Your hen house plans must take into consideration that laying hens need approximately 1.5 square feet each of space within the henhouse.

When it comes time to plan your outside run remember again that each sort of chicken has different space wishes a laying hen needs about 8 square feet, whereas a huge chicken wants nearer to 10 feet of space.  This much space is required for them to get sufficient room to exercise and to decrease the risk of your hens and chickens fighting each other causing injury or possibly death, all this must be considered when you build a chicken pen.

When you build a chicken pen you should design it in such a fashion that your chickens can seek shelter from the elements and provide them with places they can shelter from both the sun and the rain in order to keep them healthy year round and you well supplied with fresh eggs.

There’s plenty of information out there that will aid you on Chicken Coops Plans. Much more info at Building Chicken Coops.

Pug Education – Why You Have To Start Training Your Pug Right From Day One

You go to the pet store and you fall madly in love with that big wrinkly face and the next thing you know, you are the proud owner of a new Pug puppy.  Something you have to know, especially in those early days, is that the moment you bring that young dog home, you are training them in how to act in the future.  With pug training, it is imperative to be trained from the very start of your days as a Pug owner.

When you look at how much a kid learns in the initial few years of their life, it far outweighs the quantity of things they learn in the latter years.  A pug puppydog is the same way, the first few months of their life are similar to the initial few years of a child’s life and anything they learn now is going to be embedded in their mind as something they are able to do.

If your Pug puppy jumps up on the coach, will you discipline him and tell him to get down or are you going to pet his cute small head and tell him how lovable he is.  Now think about what occurs when he is a full grown dog and he does that, you are potentially going to be upset and scream at him.  Well don’t scream at the dog, go find a mirror and scream at yourself because you’re the one that promoted that behavior when he was a young dog.

We frequently find humor in the things that both youngsters and dogs do when they are puppies and babies and then we are getting upset when they are doing the same stuff a few years later.  It is not their fault, you permitted this behavior and now you are going to have to sort it.  Knowing when to fix behavior is a sizeable part of pug training

When your Pug puppy grabs your shoes and starts chewing on them, ask one tiny query, am I going to find that funny in seven years when he’s still doing it?  If you are like most of the people, the solution to that question is going to be a sound NO so address it now and you won’t have to stress about it in the future as the dog will know it’s not allowable.

It’s a little hard to train your Pug pup from day one, but you have to resist the booby trap of falling for that captivating face.  They’re animals and they have to be trained.  The will only do what you allow them to do or get away with so make sure you get the correct behavior instilled from the first day and you will have a great pet!
