These sand dusts are specially made for chinchillas, because every time they use it, they keep on rolling. The sand will then be absorbed by their fur which can get off any dirt from it. Their bath should not be with sand alone, like us humans, they need water. These dusts should be place several inches below the bowl water container so that the chinchilla can freely move as well as for the water not to flow.  

The baths usually last for 10 to 15 minutes because if done tremendously, it can dry their skin. Don’t leave the dust bath inside the cage because the chinchilla might use it more often. Give at least two baths per week, most preferably during nighttimes when they are so hyper. But during hot climates, baths should be offer more often but never forget to limit the time in bathing if the skin of the chinchilla shows dryness and they feel itchy. The dust can be use for a number of times just make sure to put out any throw aways after every bath.
